Ideas for your home by Kristin Cripps
Not ready to move? That’s okay, here are some small reno’s or DIY ideas I love and are easy breezy.
Pretty up your walls. Tired of staring at the same 4 walls all day? What about some wallpaper, wainscotting, or shiplap? These are all inexpensive ways to cheer up a bathroom or wall of your choice and won’t break the bank.
Let the light shine! Now I don’t mean through new windows, I mean via new lighting fixtures. Whether you are taking an old lighting fixture you have or one you got at the re-store, a $15 bottle of spray paint and Bob’s your uncle or a new one maybe from Home Sense or Ikea, they also don’t need to break the bank but update a room in a jiffy.
New fixtures. Spruce up your kitchen or bathroom with some new shiny faucets. Shop around because often many stores will carry the same brand but one store might sell for $80 more for the same bathroom faucet! What are you drawn to right now? Gold, black, silver, chrome, champagne, white?
New flooring. Get your tap dancing shoes ready tee he. Is it time to take up that carpet and put down some wood, vinyl or laminate flooring? Make sure you run your flooring the longest length of the property and please stick to one, do not do the living room a hardwood, the bedroom a laminate, the kids bedroom carpet and your front office tile. Consistency is best.
New or updated vanities. Can’t spend the moola on some new vanities? Paint the ones you have, check the re-store regularly or FB marketplace for stone countertops, some new handles, and taps and voila.
New, new and more new. But don’t worry I am not talking about the big ticket, windows, roof or furnace, I’m talking about smaller things to freshen up your space and make it more inviting. These could be as simple as new towel bars, artwork or a shower curtain that isn’t all stained at the bottom.
Happy mini makeovers! I would love to see some before and after pictures. Please send them to info@crippshomes.com
